The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick celebrates and reminds us of God’s compassion and assists all who participate to recognize the spiritual, and sometimes physical healing that results from the faithful reception of this sacrament. This sacrament is not limited to those who are at the point of death. The sacrament’s intent is to lead the faithful to a wider availability beyond cases of mortal illness, such as preparing for surgery, elderly who are struggling, those suffering from chronic illness, and sick children as long as they “have sufficient use of reason to be strengthened by the sacrament.
Baptism is the sacrament that signifies our immersion in Christian life and marks our spiritual rebirth in the Church. Through baptism, we receive a new spiritual life, the dignity of adoption as sons and daughters of God and heirs of God's kingdom
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) was designed specifically for the initiation of the un-baptized person or those who are baptized yet un-catechized (no formal religious training). The process at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church begins with:
• A time to ask questions about the Catholic faith
• An introduction to gospel values and beginnings of faith
Confirmation, together with Baptism and Eucharist, form the Sacraments of Initiation that are all intimately connected. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.
The family at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church welcomes children seven years of age and older into fuller participation in Eucharist through the sacrament preparation process for receiving Communion and Reconciliation for the first time. This community supports parents as the primary religious educators of their children and as the models most significantly affecting a child’s faith development.
Our parish community wishes to support you as much as possible as you prepare for one of the most sacred moments in your life together. We join you in asking for God’s blessings and we thank you for your willingness to be a sign of God’s love in the Church and the world.
The rite of marriage is a combination of rituals, both sacred and cultural. We recognize that significant amounts of time, energy, and resources go into wedding celebrations and it is our sincere prayer that you would trust us to guide you through the marriage preparation process. Ultimately, we pray that God’s presence, already visible in your love for one another, will be transmitted to family, friends, and the Church.
We rejoice with you as you make the choice to prepare, not only for your wedding liturgy but also for your Catholic marriage. We pray that the Lord will richly bless you with gifts of peace, love, and unity.
Please do not hesitate to contact the parish for information and assistance as you proceed.
May the Lord give you peace!
“The sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. it includes three degrees.”
